Education is a Luxury July 25, 2014 at 01:51 pm
Employer costs have been increasing every year anyway. It's called escalation, and anyone whoRead More sources insurance for their own company is aware of it. I think most people conflate "what was happening anyway" with "effects of Obamacare," but there is enough information on the internet about trends prior to 2009 to detail the original insurance problem. .....Personally, Obamacare is helping my business by opening up the insurance marketplace. In FY2008, I insured 3 employees (1 family, 2 single) through BCBS for about $3700/month. Escalation was quoted at 19% for FY2009 - an increase of $700/month. We hired an HR firm (or PEO) to access a group rates and paid 5-7% escalation 2009-2014. In preparation for FY2015, new insurance options have enabled us to drop the PEO altogether and choose a small-biz plan for a smaller monthly premium than our 2010 group rates. This is a tremendous benefit because it opens up options with fringe and retirement contributions to my employees. Deductibles and network coverage are too similar to impact any participants. Outside of my own experience, most people that I know who deal with insurance budgeting for their companies or families have reversed their opinion on Obamacare - once they had to put their money where their mouth is.

I got the shaft with 8000 a year deductible and from zero monthly premium to 200 and I lost dentalRead More and eyeglass coverage and the illegals continue to get free healthcare and walmart gift cards and free phones that they pass on to their friends soon you can pay at the museum to see a white person

So it was only "affordable" because the government was subsidizing the increased costsRead More with federal dollars... which come from our taxes... which come from our wallets or get printed from nothing... so we are being told that ObamaCare saves us money on health care costs ... while we either pay more in taxes or lose buying power due to the inflation caused by printing money to pay for the subsidies... which is what makes it "affordable". I get it now. ObamaCare is a money laundering scheme designed to fool us into thinking we're all getting something for nothing while we're all getting less and paying more. No wonder they wouldn't tell us what was in it before they passed it!

Betsy Bowen July 25, 2014 at 01:37 pm
I'll bet Ron and Cheryl got sick of the airport noise. How ever do the super rich bear it? You payRead More $27.5 million for 32 acres and a lake, but the endless racket from low flying jets and helicopters is hard to ignore.

In this day and age you have to be aware of your surroundings at all times in public and even inRead More bathrooms and changing rooms to protect yourself. I understand why this woman is so upset, I do. (I thought the State was immune from lawsuits.) All this does is drive up the cost oif insurance for state and municipal parks, when so many are working to preserve them, this kind of lawsuit deters more towns and states from acquiring and keeping parkland.

Well Clare where does this say the girl is a raving beauty? She might be and she might not be. ItRead More was pretty crude thing to say about this guy. How attractive would you be having a mugshot taken? Maybe the girl was lonely, maybe not. If you read my previous post. Don't know one way or another, but I don't think you can just go on her word alone. Do you remember Andrea Mears who beat the hell out of the guy flying a drone and then told the police he attacked her. If it was for the video everyone would have believed her. I said at the time that Andrea didn't do females any favors because from then on the female's story get harder to believe. BTW she said she left the home, there is only her word for that.
Clare July 25, 2014 at 12:51 pm
Hey, Igor. But you are taking his word alone aren't you? I still say, mug shot or not that is oneRead More ugly dude and I never said she was a raving beauty, did I? The fact that he came onto her and the fact she got the hell away from him shows me she was immature and afraid of him. If you want to come up with the one example of Andrea Mears, you go ahead. How about all the handymen who work in homes and rape and kill the women in the house. I can guarantee there are a hell of a lot more of them than Andrea Mears. This is just one example: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/12/12/handyman-admits-killing-mass-women/

How do you know the reporter didn't mind if the kid ran around with his very expensive mic? How doRead More you know the kid didn't grab it out of his hand and run around with it while the mother did/said nothing to the kid? You DON'T know that, and neither do I. What I DO know, is just because the kid may have been "curious" about the mic, as you suggest, doesn't mean he should be allowed to take it and run (around a pool, no less) A) it doesn't belong to him; B) it's an expensive piece of equipment that shouldn't be played with by any 4 year old; and C) It's not up to the reporter to say "no", it's up to the mother to teach him some guidelines and restrictions. With your thought process, I guess no matter what the kid did in DI or no matter how obnoxious he was, it would be OK behavior. That thinking is exactly what is wrong with the way parents are raising their precious little ones these days. And if you listen to the radio interview of the mother, it is clear that she thinks whatever little Justin wants to do should be perfectly acceptable to the rest of the world. As she says, she will not change his behavior to make the world happy, even tho people are "constantly" telling her to. Wise up. This is clearly a case of poor parenting skills.

Shouldn't lefty Patch writers include a footnote with their definition of "surplus" inRead More this headline?

Kara, the headline reads "Organic Fruit Sold Locally Recalled for Possible ListeriaRead More Contamination". It's clearly sensationalizing the two organic products.
Suzanne jefferis July 24, 2014 at 01:12 pm
The article should read 'Fruit Sold Locally'... It is misleading to the unaware who read no fartherRead More to suggest that organic fruit is the problem. All fruit, organic or those sprayed with unsafe pesticides should be washed. If gene spliced with herbicides and toxic pathogens as with GMO fruit, it is no longer a product of nature.
PS July 24, 2014 at 02:24 pm
Let's be realistic, those who are "unaware" probably aren't the people buying organic inRead More the first place. Lay off Kara - she's the only reason the patch is any good!

cohort = ignorance on display. ever think that the gunsare actually being shipped TO PA, from theRead More redneck states? DOH !!! RULES are RULES, NO GUNS means NO GUNS !!!!
Thomas Paine July 25, 2014 at 01:26 pm
Joe Troll - you really do not know what you do not know which you prove time and time again. PA,Read More like CT, requires all handgun sales to run through a FFL with a background check, even between private parties. If a gun from outside of PA is going to be sold LEGALLY in PA, there has to be a BGC by either a FFL or LE. For an individual to "ship" a gun to an individual in PA directly, without a BGC would be a violation of the existing law, whether from a redneck state or CT. DOH! you really do not know anything about which you spew.
