<p>The Wallingford Public Library opened in 2008 after a $12 million expansion. It currently boasts some the highest per capita spending in the state of Connecticut, at $10.5 in 2009. </p>
<p>The 67,000-square-foot main branch is home to a community room, 49 internet-complete computer stations and thousands of books and educational resources. </p> <p>The main branch hosts various events each week from prominent speakers to training, discussions and film screenings with separate programs for children and teens.</p> <p>As of June 2010, its collection consists of 217,631 books, 14,957 videos and DVDs, 9,862 CDs and 3,605 audio books. </p> <p>Its librarians work closely with the school system to promote summer reading programs. </p>
