The Wallingford Warriors U-17 boys' soccer team opens play in the national championship tournament today against Springfield, Illinois.
Wallingford, which went 4-0-1 in the recent Region I tournament, is one of four teams in the championship tournament. The title game is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
"This is very exciting for all of us," Wallingford coach Dave Rodriguez told Dan Nowak of the New Haven Register and GameTimeCT.com. "We're very pleasantly surprised to get this far."
