Wallingford BOE Approves Full-Day Kindergarten, Increased Preschool

The move hinges on finding $1.3 million to fund the programs.

Monday night, the Wallingford Board of Education voted for full-day kindergarten and to increase the district's preschool enrollment, a move dependent on getting $1.3 million to pay for the programs.

The Record-Journal reports that Monday night, the school board voted 6-2 to extend kindergarten in Wallingford schools from half-day to full-day next year and to increase enrollment for the district's preschool program. However, the board needs to get $1.3 million approved to fund the two programs, which will be part of the school board's proposed budget this spring, according to the newspaper.

Wallingford Board of Education members Michael Votto, Kathy Castelli, Jay Dei, Chet Miller, Roxane McKay voted for the extension of both programs, with members Patrick Reynolds and Joe Marrone voting against, according to The Record-Journal.
