Field Advertising Coming Soon to a School Near You

Wallingford Town Council unanimously approves ordinance that allows field advertising at Sheehan and Lyman Hall high schools.

The Wallingford school system should receive a boost in funds after the Town Council unanimously approved a new ordinance that will allow advertising on athletic fields at both Sheehan and Lyman Hall high schools.

According to the Meriden Record-Journal, the advertisements will be put up during a game and taken down afterward. The ads must be in compliance with the school board's guidelines. Students will also help sell advertising.

The funds raised under the program will be used for field maintenance.

"This is a great idea and it's a long time coming," councilman John Sullivan told the Record-Journal. "These are game day signs - not permanent signs. It's a great source of revenue for the school system."
