Wallingford Fires Animal Control Officer Following Assault Arrest

Lisa Seyler was fired after she was charged on July 24 with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

Lisa Seyler, Wallingford's animal control officer, has been fired from her job after she was charged in July with assault, leaving the town with just one person left in the animal control department.

Seyler was arrested in July after she allegedly assaulted Dean Rizzo, who, along with this wife, worked as a part-time assistant in the animal control office. Rizzo and his wife have since resigned from their positions, and now with Seyler being fired, the town has just one employee left in the animal control department, according to The Record-Journal.

Wallingford Mayor William Dickinson said he fired Seyler because her actions are "not condoned" and "the rules of the workplace were violated," according to the news site. The town is now actively searching for a full-time animal control officer and two part-time animal control assistants.
