Standoff Reported in Wallingford

Cook Hill Elementary School was put in lockdown for about 20 minutes due to an incident in the neighborhood, a school official said.

The Record-Journal newspaper is reporting that an "emotionally disturbed" man is in custody following a standoff on Schoolhouse Road. No one was injured, the newspaper reported.

The Wallingford Police Department said a full news release will be coming soon.

Cook Hill Elementary School was briefly put in lockdown Friday from 12:40 p.m. to about 1 p.m. as a precaution because of the incident, Cook Hill Principal Carol Mikulski told Patch.

"Everything went smoothly and we were never in imminent danger," Mikulski said. "After about 20 minutes we got a call that the incident was over."
