Police: Man Set Fire To SUV In Wallingford

Harvey Johnson, 41, has been charged with first-degree accessory to arson and second-degree arson for his alleged role in setting a car on fire.

A press release from the Wallingford Police Department:

On Wednesday, Wallingford Police arrested 41-year-old Harvey Johnson of New Haven by arrest warrant for the charges of second-degree arson and first-degree accessory to arson.

On May 30, 2012, Police were dispatched to the area of South Turnpike Road for the report of a motor vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied, and the flames were extinguished by the Wallingford Fire Department.

The vehicle was identified as a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban was completely destroyed by the fire.

After an extensive investigation conducted by a Wallingford Police Department Detective, probable cause was established to believe the fire was set intentionally by multiple suspects.

Johnson was held on a $100,000 bond and arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on Thursday. Further arrests are pending.
