VIDEO: Hundreds Turn Out for State Firefighters Parade in North Haven

Patch was there to watch as firefighters statewide took part in the parade. Were you there too? Add your photos and videos to this article!

Hundreds of firefighters marched in Sunday’s parade in North Haven honoring the firefighting companies of Connecticut. Some carried axes with gleaming silver blades; others carried baskets of red, white, and blue flowers. Some marched in step with the marching bands or fife and drum corps; other walked casually and waved to groups of spectators.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, Representative Rosa DeLauro, and State Senator Len Fasano were among the several elected officials also in the parade.

Featured in the parade were new and restored classic fire trucks and ambulances, the Governor’s Horse Guard, several fife and drum corps dressed in colonial garb, and local businesses.

The parade was the finale of the Connecticut State Fire Association’s annual convention. The event attracted an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 firefighters, as Patch reported, from towns as far away as Canaan, Ledyard, and Danbury.
