After 14 Years, Struble To Step Down As Wallingford's Fire Chief

After working for the town for 27 years, the last 14 of which he served as Wallingford's fire chief, Peter Struble is retiring to take a full-time teaching job at the University of New Haven.

The Record-Journal reports that Struble, 51, was emotional at a Wednesday press conference, where he announced his last day would be Dec. 19. Struble started as a volunteer firefighter, eventually moving up to chief of the town's fire services.

“I have been blessed to be Wallingford’s fire chief for the last 14 years,” Struble said at the press conference, according to The Record-Journal. “The opportunity to work in public service for my hometown is truly one of life’s gifts. My love of the fire department is only surpassed by my love for my family. The men and women of the Wallingford Fire Department are the best in the country and I am certain I am leaving the department in capable hands.”
