Author Returns to Wallingford: Sichan Siv
Wallingford Public Library, 200 North Main
Street, Wallingford, welcomes author Sichan Siv on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00
p.m. for a presentation of his new novel Golden
State: love and conflict in hostile lands. In this political thriller, a
fictional United States president weakened by scandals must rely on a Texas
cowboy to restrain powerful world leaders before they destroy each other and
the entire planet. As a former United States ambassador to the United Nations
and deputy assistant to President George H. W. Bush, the author is in a unique
position to craft a political thriller. His previous books include his memoir Golden Bones: an extraordinary journey from
hell in Cambodia to a new life in America (Harper Perennial:
2009) and Golden Words (poetry).
Originally
from Cambodia and a survivor of the Khmer Rouge killing fields, returning to
Wallingford is an annual event for Mr. Siv who calls Wallingford “my birthplace
of freedom.” Mr. Siv holds a master’s degree in international
affairs from Columbia University. He and his wife reside in Texas, New York,
and beyond. The public is encouraged to attend this event and learn more about
the author’s books and his extraordinary life.
