Thousands Flock to Celebrate Wallingford

The annual two-day event was packed on Saturday and Sunday as families streamed in for food, entertainment, and good times with neighbors and friends.

This year’s Celebrate Wallingford event moved uptown, covering Main Street from the Town Hall to Simpson Court. Many Center Street businesses had sidewalk booths and the annual art show was held in the historic Center Street Cemetery.

“It’s better than we could have expected,” said Liz Landow, executive director of Wallingford Center, Inc. and chair of Celebrate Wallingford, “more people that we’ve ever seen.”

New attractions this year include a showcase of new cars, a fitness zone hosted by the YMCA, and an increased number of civic groups and businesses.

“It’s just bigger and better,” said Landow.

Celebrate Wallingford continued Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. with plenty of food, live music, civic groups, local businesses, kids’ activities, and crafters.
