There were quite a few fairy princesses, superheroes, and movie characters, as well as witches, clowns, and animals among the costumed children.

The crowd was treated to cider doughnuts, apple juice boxes, and goody bags of candy.

There was a photo booth, a hunt for plastic eggs in a hay pile, scarecrow making and other crafts.

A DJ spun Halloween classics like Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and "The Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett along with modern hits like "Party Rockers" by LMFAO and the Korean breakthrough artist PSY singing "Gangnam Style."

With Hurricane Sandy just around the corner, the warm evening ensured Wallingford kids got to experience Halloween this year, even if Wednesday night’s trick-or-treating gets rained out.
