What's Happening With Vinny's Garden Center in Wallingford?

The Route 5 business suffered a roof cave-in during the big blizzard on Feb. 8, although a town official said the owners plan on repairing the damage.

Vinny's Garden Center in Wallingford has been closed since one of its roofs caved in during the Feb. 8 blizzard that dumped nearly three feet of snow in the area.

But, according to one town official, the owners of the business plan to renovate and rebuild the damage sustained on the Route 5 building.

Zoning Enforcement Officer Richard Boyne III said the owners of Vinny's Garden were issued a notice to demolish or repair the damaged building, which is a standard procedure for the town's building department.

"Their intentions to me were that they were going to get a design professional, go through insurance and rebuild," Boyne said.

It's unclear as to when any of that potential rebuilding could happen. Patch tried to reach the owners of the business but all attempts were inconclusive.

Vinny's Garden Center has been closed since the storm on Feb. 8 when it was damaged from heavy snow loads. There still is lots of debris inside and a notable hole in the roof toward the entrance.
