Wallingford's Quest Diagnostics To Shed 140 Positions Over The Next Two Years

Wallingford Mayor: "It's Troubling."

Quest Diagnostics has announced it will shed 140 positions at its Wallingford location over the next two years, with 70 positions being transferred to Marlborough, Mass, and another 70 being eliminated.

Quest is the town's eighth-largest employer, with around 370 employees, according to The Record Journal. However, the company announced it is replacing its Wallingford location with three smaller locations in the state, and Wallingford "potentially" could be one of them, according to The Journal.

Quest Spokeswoman Wendy Bost said the company will offer severance packages to laid-off employees and help them find other jobs within the company, according to The Record Journal. Meanwhile, local politicians voiced concerns about the move.

"It's troubling" Wallingford Mayor William Dickinson, Jr. told The Record Journal.
