A Weekend to 'Un-Wine' in Portland

Arrigoni Winery celebrates its 2nd anniversary this weekend.

Arrigoni Winery will celebrate the second anniversary of the winery’s opening by offering live music, trivia, cake and 14 different wines. 

The Connecticut Farm Wineries 2014 passports will also be released.The winery will be open Friday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can enjoy themselves in the gift shop, indoor seating, outdoor patio, covered pavilion and tasting room. 

Singer-songwriter Brian Jarvis will play live acoustic guitar Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Billy Megofna will play Saturday on the patio from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The celebration culminates on Sunday with acoustic guitarist Ben Kane playing live Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Throughout the weekend visitors are encouraged to begin the Connecticut Farm Wineries 2014 passport program by picking up a free booklet. The passport program runs from May to November 2014. Stamps from 16 wineries are required to enter to win prizes. A free ticket to the wine festival is given upon completing the entire passport.

Arrigoni Winery, founded in 2012 is located in Portland, Connecticut on Route 66. Since opening its doors, the vineyard has consistently expanded its offerings and has become a popular tourist destination. Nestled in the fertile Connecticut River Valley, Arrigoni’s wine vineyards, winery, wine tasting room and relaxing sunset patio offer a scenic and enjoyable way to sample and purchase what are fast becoming some of Connecticut’s most talked about wines.
