On Thursday, October 11, 2012, Wallingford-based Seniors Have Dreams Too will hold its sixth annual Art Exhibit and Sale at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, 175 East Main Street, Meriden.
From 6 to 9 p.m., paintings, photographs and other arts and crafts by artisans age 55 and older will be on display in the elegant surroundings of the arts center.
Entertainment will be provided by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Hilton Valentine, guitarist of the 1960s British band The Animals.
The event also features food, drink and door prizes.
Money raised from the $25 admission fee ($15 for seniors and students) and sale of the art goes to helping make dreams come true for area seniors.
Seniors Have Dreams Too grants wishes to seniors who have worked hard all their lives and wish to pursue a long-held dream. According to the organization’s website, its inspiration came from an accomplished artist named Shirley who was living in a skilled nursing facility and always wanted to have her own art exhibit. The group arranged for her to mount a one-woman show at a local café. Since then the organization has been busy making similar dreams come true for other area seniors.
