MidState Medical Center’s Pink Partini Fashion Show is Fashionably Successful

The laughter and positive energy could be felt throughout the Aqua Turf at MidState Medical Center’s recent Pink Partini Fashion Show. A signature MidState event, over 900 people from the MidState family and across the community gathered to celebrate survivorship and breast cancer awareness.

“The overwhelming community support for tonight’s fashion show is indicative of the support we see daily for MidState,” said president & CEO Lucille Janatka. “Many of you in the room tonight are breast cancer survivors, perhaps celebrating your own personal anniversary with family and friends. MidState Medical Center has a unique place in the community and you have a unique place in our hospital community.”

Gary Tansino, MD, medical director of the Palladino Family Cancer Center, echoed those comments, telling the story of an 80-year-old leukemia patient, who 20 years ago would not have had the treatment options he has today. Thanks to a miraculous targeted therapy – a drug called Gleevec - many others like him are living longer, fuller lives.

Over 60 models, including  7 courageous cancer survivors, were ushered out by the hilarious Scot Haney. They dazzled the runway with fashions provided by Modern Formals, The Dressing Room, Red Door Boutique, Ella Where She Shops, and Kimberly Boutique. Dressed in pink t-shirts, firefighters from the Meriden and Wallingford Fire Departments added excitement to the night, selling raffle tickets and pouring signature martinis to guests.

Many thanks to the fashion show’s Pink Ribbon Sponsor; the MidState Auxiliary; Salon Nathaniel of Meriden; Academy Di Capelli; Rico Entertainment; and all of the sponsors, supporters and volunteers who made the 2012 show a success!

And I don't suppose the low rate of male participation in the labor market (a bit of info I missedRead More somehow) has anything to do with a RISE in female participation? You aren't suggesting that women just stay home and out of the jobs that somehow "belong" to men, are you?

Touchy, touchy! All I asked was how MAC compared the two apparent misstatements. My guess was thatRead More the obvious disrespect that was shown by the way he refers to the President was a hint that he was a biased commentator. His defenders have called me a lib, but most folks who know me wouldn't call me that at all. I was hoping for some "fair and balanced" discussion here, but the name-callers have arrived. I ask MAC to provided some reference to support his latest pronouncement that the President "wants to destroy our economy." There are a lot of commentators who would disagree with your assessment of the economy anyway, but when did the President say he "wants to destroy our economy?"

We now have a president who wants to destroy our economy and most all of what made America theRead More (formerly?) greatest and most FREE nation in the world! He has done a fair job of accomplishing that destruction, has he not? The male labor participation rate is now the lowest since WWII, and energy costs have "necessarily skyrocketed" as he demanded!! Then we have "Common Core" and the like for the nation's schools, under which the regime denies the Constitution and instead teaches "social justice" and that America is responsible for the poverty in other nations!
