Four People Hospitalized Following a Two-Car Crash in Wallingford

Two of the people in the Route 68 crash were children, police said.

Four people were sent to Yale-New Haven hospital following a two-car collision that closed off traffic to Route 68 for over four hours Sunday afternoon.

Wallingford police said a 1998 Volkswagen Beetle, driven by Wallingford resident Robert Ursini, was going east on Route 68 when he crossed the double yellow line and collided with a 2012 Kia Optima, driven by Meriden resident John Kryzkij.

Police responded to the incident at 4:13 p.m., which occurred between the Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department and the intersection with Barnes Industrial Road, police said.

Kryzkij was driving with his two school-aged children, police said. All three of them were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Ursini is listed in stable condition at Yale-New Haven, police said.

The crash closed of traffic on Route 68 until the road was re-opened around 8:50 p.m., police said.

A Wallingford police accident reconstruction team is investigating the incident, police said. No charges have been filed.
